All of us at some time in our life will face difficulties and coping can become increasingly hard. We may realise that we want to make changes and need support. It is often difficult talking to friends or family about the things that trouble us most. That's where it can be helpful to talk to a counsellor.
A counsellor is trained to listen and understand your life and experiences without judgement.

About me and my practice
I am an integrative counsellor which means I am trained in a number of counselling approaches and so work using a variety of different tools and techniques dependent on the clients needs. Sessions are therefore tailored to the individual and how I would work with one client may be completely different to the next. I believe that this approach is most beneficial as every client is individual therefore they need to be offered support which is individually tailored to them - rather than a "one size fits all approach".
I firmly believe that for any counselling to work a solid relationship should be developed between the counsellor and client - and this is at the heart of my work. I want clients to feel comfortable and safe when coming to therapy so I work hard to ensure that the right environment is provided.
I work collaboratively with clients and encourage feedback throughout our work together to ensure sessions are meeting their needs and I know which elements of our work are helpful and which elements they are finding less so. In this way, the client is ultimately at the centre of our work together and they dictate the nature and direction of their sessions.
Experience
I have in excess of twelve year's experience working within the field of addiction and specifically supporting clients with the underlying causes of their dependence e.g. trauma, abuse.
In addition to running my own private counselling practice since 2014, I have also worked as a Counsellor within the prison service and a Cruse Bereavement Counsellor.
I am passionate about making a difference to the lives of others - as I believe life is too short to be unhappy, unsure, or unfulfilled.
Together we can learn and develop better ways to handle the issues that are standing in the way of your goals and ultimately your happiness.
